Where the Money Comes From

Every booking button and every in-text link to a tour on this site opens a listing on GetYourGuide or Viator and carries our partner tag. All 28 tours, cooking classes and tastings compared here are sold on one of those platforms, and each card names the one it comes from. When you book after clicking through, the platform pays us a share of the commission it already earns from the operator. Nothing is added to what you pay: the from-price on the listing, whether $34.84 (checked September 2026) for a speakeasy tasting or $231.11 for a private Vatican food tour, is the same price you would see if you found the page on your own, because our share comes out of the platform's margin.

One further link on this site works differently. Our free-activity page names a real, free, pay-what-you-want walking tour listed on GuruWalk, an independent walking-tour platform we do not operate and are not affiliated with. That link carries a referral code. GuruWalk does not set a fixed ticket price: at the end of the walk you pay the guide whatever you think it was worth, and nothing about that changes based on whether you clicked the link here or found the same tour directly on guruwalk.com. Outside those booking platforms and that one GuruWalk link, there is no third partner. Display ads, sponsored posts and paid reviews are all absent. Should a further network join at any point, it will be named here and in the footer disclosure first, so no link goes live unannounced.

Paid Links, and What They Mean

Worth saying plainly, because for some visitors the unpaid route is the better one. A booked tour is one way to eat well in Rome, and often a very good way, but hardly the only one. The stalls of the Testaccio market are open Monday to Saturday whether anyone books anything. A pizza rossa from a forno counter costs a couple of euro. Wandering from Trastevere to the Jewish Ghetto costs nothing at all. A table you reserve yourself at a trattoria sends nothing our way, and neither does queuing at a pizzeria in Testaccio or buying pizza al taglio by weight at a counter in Prati. The only thing this site can ever earn on is a tour or class booked through one of our links, and where turning up on your own makes more sense, the guides say so.

Even inside the tour roster, we lead with what a listing actually shows rather than nudging you up the price range. Cheaper options sit at the top of the comparisons as often as premium ones, because the order follows the evidence, not the payout.

How The Figures Are Printed

Ratings and review counts printed on this site are taken from the live listing. We do not blend numbers from different platforms, round them in our favor, or fill gaps with estimates; when a figure could not be confirmed it simply does not appear. Among the twenty-eight tours, published ratings range from 4.7, on the private food tour with six or ten tastings, up to 5, and review counts stretch from 15 on the speakeasy tasting to 6,343 on the Trastevere twilight food tour.

Prices get the same treatment with one extra caveat. Every from-price shown is the cheapest option on that listing when it was read, and across the twenty-eight tours here they run from $34.84 to $231.11 (checked September 2026). What you end up paying moves with the date, the option picked, group size and extras, so the live booking page is the only real authority on the day. Restaurant price bands used elsewhere on this site follow the same logic: a place lands in a band because published sources put it there, not because anyone quoted a menu at us.

How To Book Without This Site

Every tour here can be booked without this site seeing a cent. Put the tour's exact title into a search engine, track down the operator or the booking page yourself, and reserve that way. Nothing is withheld from the write-ups to punish that route. The hope is simply that you eat and drink well in Rome however you arrange it. The FAQ and the guides hold the same material whether any booking link is ever clicked or not.
